Mayors Voices: Lord Mayor of Heidelberg Eckart Würzner

Cities are already implementing climate solutions, and a key ongoing task for these leaders is to apply pressure at the federal level to encourage world governments to undertake their own climate initiatives, Lord Mayor of Heidelberg, Eckart Würzner, told the C40 News Team.

In Heidelberg, energy consumption across all municipal buildings has been reduced by more than 50 percent. The city is also building a new, zero-emissions development at the site of a former freight yard.
